20th Anniversary 114 www.afamag.com |  www.incollect.com T he Center for Pennsylvania German Studies recently opened in Trappe, Pennsylvania—located in the scenic Perkiomen Valley region of Montgomery County about an hour northwest of Philadelphia. Combining a wide range of objects, including furniture, redware, fraktur, paintings, and textiles. with cutting-edge scholarship, the center has ambitious plans for future exhibitions and educational programs. Housed in the historic Dewees Tavern, which was renovated in 2019 by a team of dedicated volunteers and local businesses who supplied everything from paint to flooring and LED track lighting to UV-blocking window film, the center has five exhibition galleries, a classroom that also serves as a fraktur and textiles study center, research library and archives, offices, and collections storage. Seed money for the renovations was generously provided by Joan and the late Victor Johnson, with additional financial support from William K. du Pont and Susan and Stephen Babinsky.
