So says this year’s Honorary Chair, Thomas Jayne, founder of the internationally acclaimed Jayne Design Studio. Jayne credits his guiding philosophy—that history is the core component of good design—to his years as a Fellow in the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture. Join us for this enlightening keynote lecture as we delve into the world of good taste and contemporary decoration. Book signing to follow. About Thomas Jayne Thomas Jayne attended the University of Oregon, where he majored in architecture and art history. In addition to his two years with the Winterthur graduate program, he has studied at Historic Deerfield, the J. Paul Getty Museum, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 1986 he began an apprenticeship for interior decoration at the iconic firm Parish-Hadley and continued with the decorator Kevin McNamara. In 1990 he opened Jayne Design Studio. Clients range from young families to established collectors, from California to New York to Great Britain. His publications include The Finest Rooms in America: Fifty Influential Interiors from the Eighteenth Century to the Present and American Decoration: A Sense of Place, both published by The Monacelli Press.
