Entrance Drive pond, to an ornate Chinese Pavilion (figs. 4a,b) nestled in the front corner of the Galleries Building, to an imposing Gothic Tower (figs. 5a,b) on Oak Hill with a vista toward the Brandywine. Rounding out the new, temporary structures, you’ll be delighted by an elegant Neoclassical Folly modeled after the entrance to a Greek temple; the Mirror Folly, inspired by the porte cochère at the Winterthur Train Station, whose overall mirrored surface will reflect the seasonal changes in the surrounding garden; an exotic Figs. 4a,b. Pavilions, pagodas, and other Chinese- style structures were popular in Europe during the 1800s. This folly is inspired by the famous Chinese House at Stowe Landscape Gardens in Buckinghamshire, England. — 39 —
