Signed by maker, Daniel Ames (1751–1822) Cherry, various woods for inlay, poplar and pine; secondary woods. Condition: Very good condition, minor shrinkage cracks to back feet (all original) minor imperfections, replaced brass. The upper book-case section has a dentil-molded cornice above inset panel doors with quarter-fan inlay flanked by fluted pilaster columns surmounted by leaf carving. The desk portion (lower case) has a fall front lid with an inlaid compass star. The interior is fitted with pigeon holes and valences flanking a central prospect door with quarter fan inlay all above four graduated drawers flanked by fluted pilaster columns supported by ogee bracket feet. 82½"h x 42"w x 20"d
