Portrait of Mary Chew [Peter] Brumley (1756-1826). The sitter was the “natural child” of Georgetown (D.C.) founder Robert Peter and his common law wife, Cassandra Chew. She became the famed resident of the Old Stone House, the city’s oldest standing residence. Attributed to James Martin ca. 1795.
