2016 / 9 W ELCOME TO THE 2016 C HARLESTON A NTIQUES S HOW T his year marks the 13th annual Charleston Antiques Show which benefits the Foundation’s mission of preserving and revitalizing the history and livability of Charleston for the future. Since 1947, the Foundation has played a key role in the protection and preservation of Charleston and the Lowcountry’s historic buildings. Through advocacy, education, archaeology, research, decorative arts collections, museum house interpretations and easement and neighborhood revitalization programs, the Foundation continues to protect the architectural, historical, and cultural integrity of Charleston and its Lowcountry environs. Your generous support of the Antiques Show allows us to continue to fulfill our mission of stewardship, and we are most grateful. The 2016 Antiques Show is the perfect backdrop to demonstrate why Charleston is consistently recognized as one of the most desirable places to live and visit in the United States. The Show highlights a magnificent array of decorative and fine arts, including period furnishings, vintage jewelry, porcelain, silver, and architectural garden accents from the late 17th to the early 20th century. As always, the Antiques Show has much to offer, to include the elegant Preview Party, Study Tours and special events throughout the weekend. The Charleston Antiques Show kicks off the 69th annual Festival of Houses and Gardens (March 16-April 24). The Festival provides a rare opportunity for guests to go inside the private houses and gardens of some of America’s most beautiful and historic residences, some dating to the 18th century with extensive fine and decorative arts collections. In addition to the renowned house & garden tours, guests enjoy luncheon lectures, concerts, boat cruises, mimosa strolls, oyster roasts and much more.
