During the 17th and 18th centuries, an incredibly rich mixture of styles in British furniture, textiles, and decorative objects routinely crossed the Atlantic, destined for eager customers along America’s eastern seaboard. George and Martha Washington were savvy connoisseurs of the latest decorating trends, and they carefully chose an array of goods to convey their wealth, taste, and social standing.
