Creating beautiful spaces and experiences for our loved ones is the joy and fun of being a host. While the main elements of entertaining have remained the same for hundreds of years, styles, methods, and approaches have evolved and fashions have changed. This year’s show, Elegant Entertaining , explores the ways we entertain, what has guided us in the past, and what inspires us today. It is our great honor and privilege to serve as Co-Chairs of the 2019 Washington Winter Antique Show and to welcome you to this year’s event . For sixty-four years, devoted volunteers have given their time, vision, and patronage in order to create the finest show possible — and, in turn, support under served and at-risk children and families throughout our city. The show benefits three outstanding charities and invaluable community assets: THEARC, The Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys, and The Founders Board of St. John’s Community Services. This year’s loan exhibition, The Pleasure of Your Company: Elegant Entertaining with George and Martha Washington , explores entertaining in the distinctly American tradition. We are incredibly appreciative to the exhibition curators, Susan P. Schoelwer and Stephen A. McLeod, for sharing their expertise and giving us a delightful historical perspective on entertaining. In addition, we are grateful to George Washington’s Mount Vernon for sharing pieces for the exhibition and part of its history with us. We are pleased to welcome our Honorary Diplomatic Chair, Her Excellency Maguy Maccario Doyle, the Ambassador of Monaco to the United States and Canada. The enthusiasm, support, and direction of the Washington Winter Show Board of Directors was both motivating and indispensable. Without them, the show’s success would not be possible. Our overwhelming gratitude goes to each of our amazing volunteers, whose creativity, effort, and excitement were crucial in creating the Show. We are infinitely grateful to PNC Bank for its twelfth year of support as our presenting sponsor. We are so appreciative of its enduring support. In addition, we would like to thank all of our sponsors, benefactors, and patrons for their support in ensuring the missions of our charities. We thank Jonathan G. Willen & Associates, for their incomparable vision and execution! we also wish to extend our sincere appreciation to: • Bronson van Wyck, celebrated event planner and author, for serving as our Friday luncheon speaker. • Whitney Robinson, Sarah Bartholomew, Leanne Ford, and Eddie Ross for sharing their knowledge of interior design and participating in our design panel. • William Allman, former White House curator, for bringing his personal insights to our Saturday lecture. • Taylor Saunders, who graciously donated her photographs to serve as our main imagery for the show. • Carole Pinto, Richard Thorner, Tom Preston, and David Bell for lending their talent in our dealer talks and guided walks. • The Washington Winter Show Advisors, in particular William J.
