Allen, who is versed in the contemporary fair world (a cofounder of PULSE, consultant on Art Basel Hong Kong, etc.) is keen on ensuring the traditional tenor of the show while bringing an innovative flair. “The Winter Show,” notes Allen, “represents the best in quality and features a dynamic range of works unrivaled by any other fair. Spanning 5,000 years of fine and decorative arts, from antiquities to contemporary photography, the show offers audiences of all ages an opportunity to discover something spectacular.” Adds Allen, “I am thrilled to join the show’s Co-Chairs Lucinda Ballard and Michael Lynch as well as my colleague Michael Diaz-Griffith. This is an exciting time of renewed energy and interest in decorative arts and design. We are eager to continue broadening our support base and plan to engage with new and existing audiences through programs and events throughout the year.” The 2019 show will feature 70 exhibitors who will offer a diversity of material and time frames. In addition to returning galleries, new dealers include Erik Thomsen Gallery (NY), Maison Gerard (NY), Charles Ede (London), and Les Enluminures (Chicago, NY), among others. Design chairs for the 65th anniversary year will be Victoria Hagen, Frank de Biasi, and John B. Murray. The 2019 loan exhibition Collecting Nantucket, Connecting the World will celebrate 125 years of collecting by the Nantucket Historical Association, presenting the best the Association has to offer in paintings, craft, and folk arts.
