The chest of four graduated drawers having a powerful stance accentuated by the muscular curvilinear Boston blocking, with a moulded conforming top and base moulding centered by a medial drop, standing on potently grounded claw-and-ball feet at the front, and well sculpted ogee feet at the rear. This was a fairly common base design on early Boston pieces of the fully developed Chippendale taste. The blocking is vigorous and symmetric between convex and concave; the case width and height are in outstanding proportion; the cock beading on the case and the selection of wood further amplify the potent design; additionally the original brass plate hardware powerfully punctuates the architecture of this chest. Dimensions: H 32½"; W 32"; D 20½".
