The base is inscribed, “presented to J. C. Cady (John Cleveland Cady) the architect of the first Metropolitan Opera House of New York City by the builder Marc Eidlitz at the opening 1883.” This was the first Metropolitan Opera House in New York. The opening night performance was Gounod’s Faust. Ht. 10½".
