This graphic needlework sampler is heavily embellished with birds, insects and highly developed vines and flowers. Her parents Abraham Gest and Mary Robbins were married November 6, 1794 at Chester Meeting. Martha was probably taught by Suzanna Pusey Harvey, who came from Chester County, PA, to teach in Willington in 1804. Silk on linen; 18 ⅜ " x 16 ⅞ ".
