Autumn 2015 Preview

The first of two exhibitions featuring the work of the renowned and admired Cape Ann painter Paul Strisik, A Single Blade of Grass features twenty-five works that chronicle Strisik’s travels through- out the United States, from his beloved New England to the West and Southwest. Ever in search of new material to keep his focus fresh, he also traveled out of the country frequently, and his paintings from Canada, Portugal, France, Switzerland and England in this exhibition further demonstrate his ability to capture, as he was fond of saying, “the essence of a scene.” In his nearly fifty year career, Paul Strisik amassed a series of awards that few artists achieve: over 185 awards, including sixteen gold medals, as well as accolades from the many art organizations where he played a leadership role. He relished his life as an artist, especially the camaraderie of his peers and the relationships with his students. ...sunlight on a single blade of grass is such a miracle, and so difficult to capture in paint, it is worth a lifetime of trying. - Paul Strisik Acadia Surf (detail), oil on canvas, 20 x 30 inches, signed lower right: P.
