CONNECTICUT QUEEN ANNE CHERRY DRESSING TABLE USD 20,000 - 30,000 1740-1800, probably Wethersfield, boldly shaped, scalloped-top above one long narrow and three short drawers, the center one with fan carving; shaped skirt; cabriole legs ending in pad feet, 31.5"h; case 30.5"w, 18"d; top 38"w, 24.5"dFrom the home of a well-respected collector of Americana in the Boston area. The cherry highboy, lot 104, and this dressing table most likely were made by same hand.Scalloped tops are one of the most distinctive traits developed in the Connecticut valley, particularly the area around Wethersfield. A very similar example sold at Sotheby's 'Important Americana', January 16, 1997, lot 203.
