LUNCHEON GUEST SPEAKER: Gil Schafer presents “Pink Clapboards and Tea Olive: Southern Tradition, Memory, and Great Design” Friday, March 22, noon, 44 East Bay Street $100 per person Gil Schafer, award-winning classical architect and author of The Great American House, will discuss what makes a traditional house livable today. Includes a one-day show pass. STUDY TOUR Art & Architecture: Combined by Design Saturday, March 23, 10:30 a.m. – noon, $50 per person During this exclusive study tour, leaders will discuss what art and architecture meant to tastemakers in each period. Guests will learn how these designs have remained decorative icons and inspirations throughout the 18th and 19th centuries and why they are still relevant today. In 1754, Thomas Chippendale used the word “modern” to describe one of his designs in his influential treatise The Gentleman & Cabinetmaker’s Director. Includes a one-day show pass.
