21 A NTIQUES W EEK IN C HARLESTON , S OUTH C AROLINA MARCH 13 – 20, 2011 Antiques Week in Charleston is proclaimed in mid-March each year by the Mayor of Charleston in recognition of the opening of four major philanthropic events: Historic Charleston Foundation’s Charleston International Antiques Show, Historic Charleston Foundation’s Festival of Houses and Gardens, The Charleston Art & Antiques Forum and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League Designer Showhouse. These annual events showcase Charleston’s rich historical and cultural heritage and attract visitors from throughout the United States and beyond. This year proceeds from The Charleston Art & Antiques Forum will benefit Historic Charleston Foundation. For 2011, Antiques Week in Charleston will be March 13–20. In 2011, the Charleston International Antiques Show will feature a special exhibition titled Sterling Splendor: The Charleston Silver Trade curated by Brandy S. Culp, Curator of Historic Charleston Foundation, and J. Grahame Long, Curator of History the Charleston Museum. J. Grahame Long, Curator of History at The Charleston Museum, is leading an In the Company of Experts Tour at the Charleston International Antiques Show. Historic Charleston Foundation Past President Jane Hanahan de Butts enjoys the Charleston International Antiques Show Preview Party with Sumpter Priddy III, author of American Fancy: Exuberance in the Arts 1790–1840.
