Midcentury Modernism at Winterthur By Carrie Greif In the spring of 2019, Winterthur revealed an aspect of its collections that has been hidden in plain sight for more than sixty years. With Unity by Design: Midcentury Modernism at Winterthur (figs. 1, 2) , the museum mounted the first gallery exhibition of twentieth-century design by displaying some of the 170+ such furnishings that have been scattered throughout offices, libraries, and storage spaces across the estate.
