The House of Denmark is presenting an exceptional exhibition dedicated to the Danish goldsmith Georg Jensen, a major figure in Nordic design. Paris played a key role in the artist’s career: after several visits to France, he chose to settle there in 1924. He then ran a small workshop of a few craftsmen, thus reconnecting with the essence of his craft, far from the large factory in Copenhagen, which already had several hundred employees. This return to the foundations of craftsmanship proved particularly fruitful. At the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in 1925, Jensen was a huge success and received the Grand Prix. The works created during this period in Paris (1924–1926) are now considered among the most successful in his work. Designed in close collaboration with the Georg Jensen Society, bringing together members of the artist’s family, the exhibition reveals an intimate and defining chapter in his journey, where Paris becomes a creative refuge.
