A carefully curated journey through one hundred years of Finnish design, from the experimental spirit of the 1920s to contemporary expression in the 2020s. Through exceptional works of furniture, lighting and decorative art, the presentation reveals the ideas, materials and intertwined stories that shaped Finland into one of the world’s most influential design nations. Rather than focusing on a single designer or period, the presentation explores how Finnish design developed across generations — from the formative experiments of the 1920s and the rise of Functionalism in the 1930s, through wartime scarcity and reconstruction, to the international breakthrough of the postwar Golden Age and the creative freedom that followed. The story is told through objects.
