Elizabeth & E. Geoffrey Verney 2013 honorary chairs The Nantucket Historical Association is pleased to recognize Elizabeth and E. Geoffrey Verney as the Honorary Chairs of the 2013 Antiques & Design Show of Nantucket Liz and Geoff have a long and meaningful history of involvement with the NHA. A member of the board of trustees from 2002 to 2009, Geoff, who served as president from 2004 to 2009, helped advance the NHA’s strategic goals, contributing his time and expertise on the Development, Museum Center Design, and Museum Center Building Committees, among others. Together, the Verneys are broadly involved through membership, programs, and special events.Their leadership support generously contributed to the success of the capital campaigns for the Whaling Museum, Research Library, and Greater Light. In addition, Liz and Geoff are members of the Heritage Society, which recognizes individuals who make planned gifts to the NHA. Notably, the Verneys have helped enhance the public’s knowledge and understanding of Nantucket history through the E. Geoffrey and ElizabethThayer Verney Fellowship, which they endowed in 1999 to encourage study of the collections at the NHA Research Library by academics, graduate students, and independent scholars. For their many gifts of generosity–material, time, talent, loyal participation, and steadfast engagement in myriad NHA activities–our gratitude to Liz and Geoff Verney is heartfelt and profound.
