The box has a carcass of sandalwood that is veneered with porcupine quills, water buffalo horn and ivory. The borders of the box are ivory that has been engraved and filled with black lacquer all set on four bun feet of turned water buffalo horn, H. 13¾, W. 10, D. 8¾ in.
