Note: Antinea is considered one of the finest designs by Rene Lalique’s grandaughter Marie- Claude, who captures the high style of the art nouveau. The figure of Antinea is most likely inspired by the French novel, L’Atlantide published in 1919 by Pierre Benoit. The popular novel inspired many artists and filmakers of the day, who were captivated by the alluring and exotic persona of Antinea – sea queen and daughter of Neptune.
