The artist studied advertising illustration and design at the Art Center School in Los Angeles in the 1950s and pursued a career in commercial art while simultaneously working privately on works that represented his love of rural life and Americana. Eventually, painting became Wysocki’s sole focus, resulting in a successful oeuvre that has been much beloved and extensively reproduced in a wide variety of forms since the 1970s. The original canvas, “Confection Street”, lot 3, is one the artist’s true masterpieces, depicting his cheerful, nostalgic and detailed approach to a streetscape.
