Newport Show 2017

For over a decade the Newport Antiques Show has celebrated the world of fine art and antiques here at St. George’s School. Each year the Show has grown in breadth and depth, offering you a diverse selection of furniture, folk art, jewelry and paintings, alongside a series of exhibitions and educational programming. This year marks the Show’s eleventh anniversary and we are thrilled as this exciting event continues to expand. We are pleased to welcome several new dealers of traditional antiques, such as Jessie Davis from London and Robert Lloyd of New York. The Show’s fashion element now includes four dealers of vintage and antique jewelry—Three Golden Apples, Reh Fine Jewelry, David Rovinsky Fine Jewelry and Sue Brown—and a dealer of vintage handbags, Only Authentics. Also new this year, Jessica Hagen Fine Art & Design is featuring the work of neo-expressionist artist Hunt Slonem and photographs by Elliott Landy, the official photographer of Woodstock in 1969. We are honored that this year’s lecture will be presented by Mr. Landy who is widely recognized as a pioneer of rock music photography. Landy will discuss what it was like to attend Woodstock and will comment on the importance of preserving the vision and essence of the festival. Some of us are old enough that the events of our youth have become iconic, and collectable. The Show’s 2017 exhibit presents highlights from the Mapping the Newport Experience: A History of the City’s Urban Development project at the Newport Historical Society. Visiting Curator of Urban History John Tschirch is in the process of illustrating a visual timeline for urban development in Newport through maps, photographs and written descriptions. Anyone who has enjoyed visiting Newport will appreciate the insight provided through this exhibit. g{tÇ~ lÉâ 28
