Philadelphia Antiques Show 2016_

W 1 W W welcome to the W Greetings to All! How does a classic remain a classic? Our strategy was to take the fine traditions of a quintessential antiques show, add the right mix of innovation, and then enjoy the results! Now, in our 54th year, we have successfully blended the old with something new—our identity. Our new name is now The Philadelphia Antiques & Art Show to better reflect the Show’s ever growing selections of fine art along with antique furnishings and decorative arts for both the period and modern American home. Our new Show is also in a splendid new location—a spectacular tent on the Marine Parade Grounds of The Navy Yard. We are savoring a job well done by those who contributed to the success of this Show, and we are eager to recognize them. Many talented people meshed together for many months bringing hard work, faith, wit, resourcefulness and intelligence to produce this distinguished Show. None of this could have occurred without the tremendous support of the administration of Penn Medicine, our Beneficiary. We sincerely thank Ralph Muller, Chief Executive Officer of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, for his commitment and confidence in us, Dr. Peter Quinn, Vice-Dean for Professional Services and Senior Vice-President for his support and trust, as well as so many at Penn Medicine who have given their time and talents to help us solve problems and become more effective. We are proud and grateful for our new management team, Diana Bittel and Karen and Ralph DiSaia, who worked tirelessly to provide us with a path to excellence as they took on many details and big concepts alike to produce a revitalized, viable Show. We are happy to recognize the dedication of our many volunteers. We appreciate the time and achievement of so many who provided their top-level skills and were so totally committed to the success of the Show. We are so grateful to all the corporate and individual underwriters who gave so generously to support our fundraising goals for Penn Medicine. In particular, our appreciation goes to our Presenting Sponsor, The Haverford Trust Company, for their vision and unconditional support, and to Altus Partners Inc. & Chubb Group of Insurance Companies for sponsoring our gala Preview Party. We salute our 58 dealers who came with extraordinary selections of the finest antiques and fine art found anywhere. We honor them this year as our Loan Exhibition, Secret Treasures, features examples from their own personal collections demonstrating their unique passions and pleasures of collecting. Welcome and thank you to the thousands of patrons who attend the Show, whether you are ardent collectors or just appreciative of the fine and decorative arts. Your presence and patronage is inspirational and gratifying. Our heartfelt thanks to all as this collaborative effort demonstrates the importance of community, cooperation and teamwork to achieve a job well done, and to insure that a classic indeed remains a classic. Enjoy the Show! THEPHILADELPHIA ANTIQUES & ART SHOW
