Inscribed: “IN Memory/ of/ Mary Whittemore/ obit Jan 28th/ 1803/ Wrought by her sister/ Eliza Whittemore”. Eliza (1791–1860) and Mary (1781–1803) were two of six children born to Nathan Whittemore (1757–1825) and Mehitable Carter of Charlestown, MA. Eliza married Captain John Harris in 1818. ey resided in Charlestown and had four children. Silk and watercolor on silk; 26½" x 30" with original elaborate frame.
