WILLIAM WALLER’S POWDER HORN Virginia rifleman William Waller carried this engraved powder horn to display his commitment to the fight for American liberty in 1776. GEORGE WASHINGTON’S HEADQUARTERS FLAG This blue silk flag with white stars may have marked the headquarters of General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. Donated to the Museum by descendants of General Washington’s sister, the small flag is believed to be the earliest surviving 13-star American flag. A grant from the Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution and its Color Guard helped to conserve it.
