Philadelphia Antiques Show 2022

102 A LOOK BACK Beatrice B. Garvan: Volunteer and Curator Emerita, Philadelphia Museum of Art “I volunteered at the Philadelphia Antiques Show for many years. I distinctly remember chairing the 1977 loan exhibit, Underfoot: Floor Coverings Used in America . And, of course, when I was a curator at the museum for many years, we bought from the dealers. I got to know the dealers—and that was as important as anything for the museum. For instance, I was particularly excited when the dealers Jim and Nancy Glazer whom I had gotten to know called me about a zinger of a Pennsylvania German chest they had acquired. I took a look and sure enough, the museum acquired it and it remains one of the anchors of the Pennsylvania German collection.” Chest over Drawers , 1792, Formerly attributed to John Beiber, American, 1768-1825. Made for Magdalena Leabelsperger, American, 1772-1884. Philadelphia Museum of Art: Purchased with the Thomas Skelton Harrison Fund, the Fiske Kimball Fund, and the Joseph E.
