Philadelphia Antiques Show 2022

97 THE PH I LADE L PH I A SHOW Paul Vandekar of Earle D. Vandekar of Knightsbridge, Inc., Downingtown, PA Earle D. Vandekar of Knightsbridge, Inc. has been an exhibitor since 1981 “The Philadelphia Show has evolved over the years to include not just antiques but Folk Art, Americana, and paintings. One thing that has not changed is that it is considered one of the top shows in the country. At one show, while I was sitting at a dinner, I received a tap on the shoulder. A guest at the dinner wanted to meet with me and proceeded to buy all the major pieces in my booth. I returned to the dinner with a huge smile and have been always waiting for that ‘tap on the shoulder’ ever since. At another show I acquired a Weldon coffee pot. We sold so many of our important pieces at the Philadelphia Show including a Chinese export porcelain ox head tureen cover and stand.” Chinese Export Porcelain Oxhead Tureen Cover and Stand, c. 1795 Skip Chalfant of HL Chalfant, West Chester, PA HL Chalfant has been an exhibitor since 1984 “In the early days, you would back your truck right up to your booth to unload. We were considered a ‘dealer’s dealer’ so, as we were unloading, other dealers were buying things as they were coming off the truck. It was happening so quickly that we sometimes forgot who bought what objects and what price we quoted! I also acquired an important piece at the show — a Southeastern Pennsylvania Cupboard which I sold, bought back and then sold again five minutes later to a client. Many years later I purchased it again and still have it.” Southeastern Pennsylvania Cupboard
