The Seasons of Royo

p. 5 It is my great pleasure to host our exhibition of the works of the world-renowned Spanish painter Royo. The title he has given to this exceptional collection of paintings and serigraphs is “Las Estaciones de ROYO” (The seasons of ROYO). He has created this collection especially for our gallery and for our collectors, and we are deeply honored to receive such a special collection. An artist’s quest is similar to that of an alchemist: to transform base materials into visual gold.With hopes of creating new worlds on blank canvas, the artist dives into the wellspring of inspiration to discover visions of great originality. Royo has marketed the rare ability to breathe life into art and to gain entry to the imagination of his collectors. World renowned for his memorizing depictions of alluring women, Royo has created visual language in which subtlety reigns supreme. Royo captures moments of stunning beauty and precious intimacy. The vibrant dashes of color which dance playfully in the compositions recall the works of Spanish master, Renoir. Parallels can also be seen in Royo’s “homage to the female form,” where his almost portrait-like treatment of the female model, caught in a serene and contemplative moment, take us back to the style of the older master. Similarities can also be drawn from Royo’s work and another Spanish master, Joaquin Sorolla, whom have both been characterized as “painters of the light.”Their styles flawlessly capturing the dramatic visual essence of their homeland on the Mediterranean Sea. The sweeping brush strokes, bold swaths of color, and heavy impasto capture the eye and draw one inward until that final absolute moment of awareness that one is actually there in the scene-the heat and light of the sun, the salt and sea spray, and the crashing surf, all awakening your senses. The viewer is able to capture a glimpse of every special moment. You, as a collector of fine art, are given the rare opportunity to collect and meet arguably one of the most sought after and collected artists of our time.
