Francis Saul, II On behalf of the entire Washington Winter Show Committee, we are so pleased to welcome you to this very first Winter Show. It has been an honor for us to serve as Co-Chairs in this pivotal year and present a significant show of antiques and decorative arts in our nation’s capital. The Show is fortunate indeed to claim PNC as our Presenting Sponsor, as their support gave us a firm footing on which to build a successful event, which in turn strengthens the benefits to our four charities: Bishop John Walker School for Boys, Starlight Foundation MidAtlantic, THEARC, and The Founders Board of St. John’s Community Services. In addition to the privilege of working with PNC and building relationships with these charities, the Show has been further aided in its aims by its advantageous location at American University’s Katzen Center for the Arts, as that has proved to be most accommodating in many ways. Still, a Show needs something to show, and here we are grateful for the support of the 45 dealers who have conveyed their excitement about this new opportunity into a beautiful assemblage to engage our visitors. Matching the commitment shown by the dealer community, Tudor Place Historic House and Garden have carefully crafted a special exhibition to enhance our theme Georgetown: Over 200 Years of Style. Their loan exhibit illuminates the style of a burgeoning national capital through the aesthetic choices of one Georgetown family over six generations, and we’re sure it will capture your imagination! We thank the Washington Winter Show Board of Directors for their encouragement of our ideas, and we truly admire their perseverance in the forging and tempering of this new entity over the past year. We deeply appreciate the efforts of the Show’s many volunteers—their time, talents, and dedication to the Show’s existence have truly made this event flourish. Our success here is theirs, as well.
