Washington Winter Show 2012

9 This page is sponsored by the Washington Winter Show Directors in honor of Amy Zantzinger It has been my privilege and a great honor to serve as Chair of the 2012 Washington Winter Show. On behalf of the entire Committee, I am thrilled to welcome you to the Show, Celebrating the White House . Proceeds from this year’s Show will benefit our five deserving charities: Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys, Fight for Children, Starlight Foundation MidAtlantic, THEARC and The Founders Board of St. John’s Community Services. This year we are proud to have Caroline Kennedy as our Honorary Chair. Caroline Kennedy serves to honor her mother’s significant contributions to the preservation of The White House. Jacqueline Kennedy’s foresight in establishing the White House Historical Association and the Office of the Curator 50 years ago, has given our country the lovely White House we have today. She left an important legacy when she initiated preservation efforts to make the White House a “living museum.” The Loan Exhibit this year, “Treasures of the First Families,” includes a fascinating collection of presidential and first family objects, many which have been in the White House. I want to thank Leslie Jones from the White House Historical Association, for her outstanding vision and talent. I would like to also thank Betty Monkman, former White House curator, who advised Ms. Jones. This year’s event wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, benefactors, and patrons. The enthusiasm of those who patronize the Show ultimately translates into more benefits for some of Washington’s most needy children and families. We are honored to once again have PNC as our Presenting Sponsor. Their continued support of the Show has given us a firm foundation on which to build a great program. We are fortunate to be at the Katzen Arts Center at American University for our fourth year. This exceptional venue is a perfect match for our 45 antique dealers coming from near and far. I want to thank all the dealers for participating this year and bringing your expertise and knowledge. It has been a pleasure working with the Washington Winter Show Board of Directors. Their dedication is a gift to our community. Their wisdom and support invaluable. But most importantly, I want to thank all the volunteers, adding a special measure of thanks to those chairing a Show Committee. Your extraordinary efforts are greatly appreciated. I WISH TO ALSO EXTEND MY THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS: Fred Ryan, President of the White House Historical Association Board, and Neil Horstman, President of the White House Historical Association, for their advice and support of this year’s Show. Nancy Clarke, former White House florist and lecturer at the Friday Luncheon. Roland Mesnier, former White House pastry chef and special guest at the Saturday Lecture and Gahl Hodges Burt, former White House Social Secretary, and moderator at this event. Frank Randolph Babb, John Irelan and Andrew Law for imparting their exquisite taste by their participation in our Guided Walks. Kathy Campanella, who oversaw all the design work for the Show. Jonathan Willen and his staff for their endless energy, talent and enthusiasm. And finally, to my husband Richard and our children, Audrey and Richard for their support and patience throughout the past year. Amy Zantzinger, Chair
