The 2013 Show benefits three outstanding charities: Bishop T. Walker School for Boys, THEARC, and The Founders Board of St. John’s Community Services. On behalf of the 2013 Washington Winter Show Committee, we are pleased to welcome His Excellency the Ambassador of France, François Delattre and Mrs. Delattre as Honorary Diplomatic Chairs. We are also delighted to have Penny Chenery, owner of the Triple Crown winning horse Secretariat, as the Honorary Chair of this year’s Show. The Loan Exhibit this year, Sporting Pastimes: Art and Objects of Leisure , is drawn primarily from the collection at the National Sporting Library and Museum in Middleburg, Virginia. We wish to thank Claudia Pfeiffer, the George L. Ohrstrom, Jr. Curator at the Library and Museum, for her extraordinary vision and talent in putting together this superb exhibit of art and antiques celebrating the enjoyment of and enthusiasm for the sporting life. We also thank F. Turner Reuter, Jr. and Hannah Reuter of the NSLM for their advisory roles with this year’s Loan Exhibit, and Leslie B. Jones for her assistance with Loan Exhibit items on loan from Washington and Lee University and from Penny Chenery. We are deeply appreciative of the enthusiastic support of our sponsors, benefactors, and patrons whose generosity benefits some of the most needy children and families in our community.
