Washington Winter Show 2013

5 Dear Lovers of Antiques and Sporting Enthusiasts, Welcome to the Washington Winter Show. It is with great pleasure that I serve as the 2013 Honorary Chair. Personally, I’m delighted that this year’s Show celebrates the sporting life, a colorful and important part of America’s heritage, through its theme, The Thrill of the Chase: Antiques of the Sporting Life, and the Loan Exhibit, Sporting Pastimes: Art and Objects of Leisure from the National Sporting Library and Museum in Middleburg, Virginia. What a wonderful opportunity for all of us to honor the fascinating history and rich traditions of the sporting life! A racehorse is judged in part on its pedigree and racing record just as antiques are judged on their provenance and quality. While Secretariat embodied the ultimate in the history of racehorses, The Washington Winter Show provides excellence through the outstanding dealers in attendance and antiques on display, while benefiting children and families in need through deserving Washington area charities.
