Washington Winter Show 2014

WASHINGTON WINTER SHOW 29 This page is sponsored by the Washington Winter Show Directors in honor of Ronald Klinger RON KLINGER A GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY As the Directors of the Washington Winter Show celebrate our 2014 Show, we pay special tribute to Ron Klinger, owner of Leather Bucket Antiques. Ron first joined the Washington Antiques Show fifty years ago and has been a consistent exhibitor ever since. Other than our beloved Elinor Gordon, who passed away in 2009, no exhibitor has had such a long and mutually rewarding relationship. Raised by his grandparents on a potato farm in central Pennsylvania, Ron’s early years did not predict his success and longevity in the antiques business. Ron graduated from Drexel engineer and started work as an engineer at General Electric. However, his life in Philadelphia with its prominence in early American history opened his eye to the fine furniture and the decorative arts of the 18th century. After a year at General Electric, Ron purchased Leather Bucket Antiques in the charming Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia and became an antiques dealer. He attributes his long- term success to his philosophy of offering his customers the best quality at a fair price, his well-regarded knowledge of the antiques market and his unblemished reputation as a dealer. He is welcoming to those who are new collectors and is always willing to discuss why a particular object is especially interesting or attractive. Ron continues to maintain an open shop at 84 Bethlehem Pike in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia. Here he welcomes patrons and collectors and shares his delight for the perpetual lure and “the hunt” for new merchandise. He also plans to continue his participation in our Show for many years to come. Ron remains to all of us a national treasure and a source of inspiration and knowledge to collectors and curators, young and old alike. He lives with his wife, Anne, in Wyndmoor, PA. They share six children, six grandchildren and two Jack Russell terriors.
