His love of Southern food, culture and cooking have put him at the forefront of the garden-to-table lifestyle. He developed an early appreciation for fresh, seasonal foods cooking at the side of his grandmother, whose Southern heirloom recipes he has revitalized for contemporary tastes. Mr. Farmer is author of several best-selling books including A Time to Plant, A Time to Cook, and Dinner on the Grounds. In addition, Mr. Farmer is editor-at-large of Southern Living and a frequent guest on television and radio. Whether he’s teaching how to plan the perfect summer picnic, using everyday items to create exquisite tabletops, creating drop-dead gorgeous flower arrangements and wreaths, or making his grandmother’s skillet peach pie, Mr. Farmer masterfully guides his audience through the art of elegant garden living. After the luncheon, Mr. Farmer will be signing his most recent book, A Time to Celebrate, where he shares his heritage of celebrating life’s milestones along with his own “personal twists” on everything from a toddler’s birthday to a black-tie wedding.
