Washington Winter Show 2017

January 12, 2016 Dear Fellow Collectors: Welcome to the 2017 Washington Winter Show! As the new regional president of PNC Bank, I look forward to meeting you and being a part of what is one of the top shows in the country in which to find antiques, artifacts, fine art, and other collectibles. We all have our own reasons for collecting. For some it is the value of the piece. For others it may be an emotional connection. As the genealogist for my family, I have spent the better part of the last five years researching my family’s history. It is in that context that I have developed a true love and appreciation for the people who came before me, their stories, their interests, and their prized possessions. Perhaps this weekend you’ll find a piece that brings back memories for you and becomes a treasure you’ll cherish for years to come. For those who’ve attended this show in the past, you know that more than 40 dealers from across the United States and Europe will be on hand selling their exquisite antiques and fine art. In addition to exploring their gems, I encourage you to participate in some of the many activities that have been planned, such as the Friday luncheon featuring American fashion designer Lela Rose, the Saturday lecture with Chip Callaway, and Jazz Night starring musicians from the Levine School. And be sure not to miss one of the hottest attractions of the show: the Coco Chanel loan exhibit, which has only been seen before in London and Milan. PNC has a long history of supporting organizations that work to strengthen and enrich the lives of our most vulnerable citizens. That’s one of the reasons we continue to serve as the presenting sponsor of the Washington Winter Show, which raises funds for three outstanding charities—The Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys, THEARC, and the Founders Board of St. John’s Community Services. Each of these nonprofits is making a significant difference in the lives of underserved families living in our community, and we wish them well as they continue fulfilling their mission. Congratulations to all who have worked tirelessly in bringing the 2017 Washington Antiques Show to life. Enjoy! Sincerely, Richard K. Bynum Regional President Greater Washington Area 5
