Through a collaboration of partner organizations, THEARC provides access to high quality educational, health, cultural, recreation, and social service programs which contribute to the revitalization of the community in southeast Washington. The campus features: four schools; dance, music and visual arts studios; Children’s National Medical Center; a regulation-size gymnasium; community meeting spaces, a DreamCourt; and a 5,000 sq. ft Kaboom! playground. It is also home to THEARC Theater and Black Box , which represents the largest theater footprint east of the river. THEARC campus also includes THEARC Farm, a 1.5-acre farm featuring a native tree fruit orchard, a culinary herb garden, and bee boxes that produce "made in Ward 8" honey! 250 teachers, maintenance staff, theater technicians, physicians, dental hygienists, administrators, art, music and dance instructors, and farmers come to work on the campus daily. More than 100,000 people visit THEARC every year. With 14 non-profits co-located on the same campus, THEARC represents the largest social-service, multi-sector, non-profit collaboration in the country.
