The working tambour roll-top conceals two dovetailed drawers, complete with tiny ivory pulls. The ivory diamond-shaped escutcheon protects the original lock, The key is not present. Below the writing well is a single drawer with a turned mahogany pull that spans the full width of the desk. The delicate moldings, spade feet, and tiny hand-carved glue blocks attest to the superlative quality of this rare survivor.
