The first and second floors of the Mansion, including the newly restoredWashington Bedchamber, have reopened after nearly two years of rotating room closures. In the spring, we will open our newly revitalized immersive exhibition, George Washington: A Revolutionary Life, which will focus on how the decisions Washington made in his lifetime continue to impact us. Visitors will be able to step into a recreation of the President’s House in Philadelphia, view a scenario depicting an enslaved family’s cabin, see highlights from the collection, and put their leadership skills to the test in our roleplaying experience, Be Washington. On the grounds, you can also walk through our new Patriots Path—a RevolutionaryWar encampment—to learn first- hand about the life of an eighteenth-century soldier. Tudor Place Historic House & Garden 1644 31st Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20007 |  tudorplace.org As the ancestral home of Martha Custis Peter, Tudor Place houses a large collection of Mount Vernon artifacts acquired at the 1802 estate sale of Peter’s grandmother, Martha Washington. Tudor Place displays much of this collection together for the first time with the exhibition Founding Fortunes, on view February through November 2026. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see ceramics, furniture, glassware, cookware, clothing, and even personal items such as soap that belonged to America’s “First Family.” The exhibition will highlight how the Peter family used these artifacts to elevate their status in the District of Columbia and build foundational wealth. It will also explore the fates of the enslaved individuals who were part of the Custis estate and how not everyone shared in the young nation’s prosperity. Located just a block from the White House, the museum offers three floors of galleries, bringing the White House and its storied history to life. Visitors can interact with a large-scale White House model, a recreation of the Rose Garden, a fullscale replica of the Oval Office, and other exhibits that combine immersive media and scenic representations of the home of America’s presidents.
