This year we honor a remarkable milestone: 250 YEARS OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE , and with that, this year’s theme traces the evolution of the home from Colonial hearths to contemporary living spaces, both here and around the globe. Under the theme “A PLACE TO CALL HOME CELEBRATING 250 YEARS OF THE AMERICAN HOME HERE & ABROAD,” we invite you to explore how cultural exchange, design innovation, and historic preservation have shaped the places we cherish most. Our theme o ers an opportunity to re ect on how historical events, global exchanges, and evolving aesthetics have shaped where we live: • From early Colonial homes and diplomatic residencies to modern, hybrid spaces re ecting today’s preferences. • How artifacts, design practices, and international in uences have infused our homes and public diplomacy e orts. • The ongoing importance of stewardship—whether preserving historic houses, sustaining embassy properties abroad, or nurturing sustainable design practices at home.
