Winter 2019 Preview

During July and August of 1907 , Prendergast worked in the Brittany towns of St. Malo and Dinard, where he completed a series of brightly colored views of vacation life. In the current example, Prendergast reacted to the bright sun, azure sky, fluttering flags, and ladies with parasols seated on the beach to create a lively holiday scene inspired by the festive atmosphere of the region.
