KEYNOTE LECTURE DR. REINIER BAARSEN Senior Curator of Furniture, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Splendor: European Decorative Arts in the New Rijksmuseum Friday, November 11, 10:00 am Dravo Auditorium Lecture sponsored by Honorary Co-Chair of the Delaware Antiques Show and distinguished furniture scholar Reinier Baarsen studied art history at Leiden University, receiving his Ph.D. in 1993. He has worked at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and as a consultant at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu and has held the positions of curator of silver and gold as well as head of the Department of Sculpture and Decorative Arts at the Rijksmuseum. He now serves there as senior curator of furniture. Baarsen is author of the sumptuous, scholarly, and eminently readable Paris, 1650–1900: Decorative Arts in the Rijksmuseum. — 10 —
