Courtesy MME Fine Art, LLC, NYC Chase’s well documented and exhibited pastel entitled A Bit of Sunlight, circa 1885, depicts a charming, dappled light-filled corner of the Brooklyn Navy Yard. A critic favorably reviewed this work in 1889 and noted that Chase, living near Prospect Park in Brooklyn at the time, was able to essentially take an otherwise ordinary subject and make it delightfully appealing while showcasing the masterful way this great American Impressionist interpreted the effects of light.
