LINDA EATON Patterns of Their Time: Design in Printed Textiles Sunday, November 9, 2:00 pm Pusey & Jones Room The late 18th and early 19th centuries were the golden age for printed textiles, when the chemistry and technology involved in their creation were at the forefront of the industrial revolution. But design was equally important and was highly valued by manufacturers, merchants, and their clients. Great designs from that period have cycled in and out of fashion for more than two hundred years. They are as relevant today as when they were created, providing contemporary designers with infinite sources of inspiration. Enjoy this discussion of fabulous textile designs that highlight the extensive Winterthur collection and are featured in the newly released Printed Textiles: British and American Cottons and Linens, 1700–1850 (The Monacelli Press).
