D EAR F RIENDS 6 e are honored that Historic Charleston Foundation is representing the City of Charleston as the loan exhibitor for the 2011 Winter Antiques Show in New York City. Grandeur Preserved: Masterworks Presented by Historic Charleston Foundation is a ground- breaking exhibition devoted to Charleston’s fine and decorative arts and the first of its kind to travel outside our historic seaport city. Several significant local institutions have generously contributed to this endeavor, allowing Historic Charleston Foundation to bring approximately seventy masterworks to New York in January 2011. Since its founding in 1670, Charleston has responded to and redefined artistic style. Because of its long-established commitment to preservation, the city retains its vibrant and multifaceted architectural, historic, and cultural heritage. Visitors as well as connoisseurs of the arts can experience firsthand the remarkable ambience of the “city set in a garden.” Grandeur Preserved offers a unique opportunity for collectors, dealers, curators, and design professionals to experience the best of Charleston’s artistic and decorative legacies at America’s most prestigious antiques show.
