Nantucket Show 2012

Carolyn & Ian McKenzie HONORARY CHAIRS The Nantucket Historical Association is pleased to recognize Carolyn and Ian MacKenzie as the Honorary Chairs of the 35th August Antiques Show. Carolyn and Ian have had a long and meaningful history of involvement with the NHA, beginning with their membership in 1995. A member of the board of trustees from 1998- 2003, Carolyn has helped the NHA make significant strides, contributing her time and talent on many committees, including the Capital Campaign Committee, Executive Committee, Development Committee, Museum Shop Committee, Collections Committee, Properties Committee, Nominating Committee, Leadership Gift Solicitation Committee, and as a contributing member of the Chairman’s Council. Carolyn is a member of the Heritage Society, which recognizes individuals who make planned gifts to the NHA through their estate plans. Carolyn and Ian have both served as members of the Nantucket Wine Festival Committee from 2004 to 2008. Carolyn chaired the August Antiques Show in 2007, and served on the August Antiques Show Committee from 1998 to 2012. In addition to their broad leadership support for the board of trustees and committees, the August Antiques Show, and their leadership-level membership, Carolyn and Ian have significantly strengthened the ongoing development of the collections as members of the Friends of the Nantucket Historical Association, established in 1986 to seek significant acquisitions for the NHA collections, to contribute to the appropriate housing and restoration of those acquisitions, and to provide funds necessary to make such acquisitions and contributions. As such, Carolyn served three terms as the President of the Friends of the NHA; Ian currently serves on the Friends’ Acquisitions Committee. With their participation in the annual and capital campaigns, as their own leadership gift, Carolyn and Ian were co-sponsors of the Going on the Whale Carving Restoration on the Whaling Museum. As well, they have generously loaned pieces from their private collection for special NHA exhibits. For all the many contributions the MacKenzies have bestowed upon the NHA— their material generosity, their significant and enthusiastic contribution of time and talent, and their steadfast engagement in NHA activities and events—we are profoundly grateful.
