Philadelphia Antiques Show 2019

2 Welcome Dear Friends, Welcome to the Philadelphia Antiques and Art Show. Now in its 57th year, the show is a venerable tradition. Offering an exceptional array of paintings, works on paper, furniture, jewelry, and the decorative arts, it is a high point of the year for those who love the arts and find the lure of collecting to be irresistible. We are delighted to announce that the 2019 Philadelphia Antiques and Art Show is being held in honor of Anne Hamilton. No individual has devoted more time and energy to the show than Anne has over the past 30-plus years. Her long-standing commitment to community, contribution of countless hours over the years, her ability to enlist others to offer their support, and her willingness to roll up her sleeves and get things done: all of these make her an exemplary volunteer. We are delighted to acknowledge her in this way and say thanks for all that she has done. She is chair of the Honorary Committee, an extraordinary group of volunteers whose names you will find on page 19. The 2019 edition of the Philadelphia Antiques and Art Show brings with it many changes and the promise of a new direction. Having long benefited Penn Medicine, the funds contributed in support of the Show by our generous sponsors and individual donors will now benefit the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This, we believe, is a match made in heaven and a relationship that will help both organizations become even stronger. Also new—and entirely welcome—is that The Women’s Committee and the staff of the museum are working in partnership to support the development of the show. Together, as the old saying goes, we can do great things. The most important goal of the Philadelphia Antiques and Art Show is to provide much-needed funding for core activities in the museum that benefit the public. This year, as part of a strategic initiative to serve audiences in the city and region more effectively and to activate our collection in service of the community, we are pleased to share the welcome news that the proceeds from this year’s show will support the work of our Division of Education and Public Programs. Welcome
